Scientific and Research Activities of the Laboratory
Laboratory of soil microbiology
- Solving problems focused on the importance of microorganisms and their activities in agricultural practice (mineralization activity of microorganisms in relation to plant nutrition; impact of xenobiotics, especially pesticides and fertilizers, on soil biological parameters; plant protection against pests and diseases),
- culture analysis of entomopathogenic fungi and bacteria,
- species composition of micro-organisms detected by second generation sequencing and routine genetic identification of bacteria and microscopic fungi isolated from soil and plants,
- analyses aimed to restore soil fertility through microbial activity.
Laboratory of experimental mycology
- Isolation and characterization of productive and biotechnologically relevant strains of fibrous microscopic fungi-microorganisms (actinomycetes, myxobacteria and fungi) and their metabolites, that are further tested for oxidative processes in cells and organs of animals,
- isolation and identification of fibrous microscopic fungi causing food fatigue,
- testing the antifungal activity of vegetable oils on food-causing isolates.
Laboratory of experimental bacteriology
- In the area of food production, the issue is focused on the microbiological quality of food and raw materials of plant and animal origin,
- in the field of biotechnology the issue is focused on the effect antimicrobial activity of bee products, medicinal plants, essential oils on the growth of microorganisms.
