Scientific activities
The scientific activities of the laboratory teams at the ABT Research Center within the Plant Biology and Biodiversity Center of the Slovak Academy of Sciences are focused on the application of biotechnological methods for the rapid production of attractive and economically valuable species of agricultural crops and trees, with the aim of enhancing the country’s food security. Research in the fields of systems biology, genomics, and proteomics enables the characterization of new genotypes obtained through biotechnological procedures (biotech plants), as well as plant genetic resources using modern genomic and proteomic approaches. This allows for the identification of key components important for food and nutrition, monitoring plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress factors, and understanding plant adaptation mechanisms to adverse conditions. Ultimately, this will lead to more efficient breeding efforts and the regulation of plant cultivation conditions to achieve maximum and high-quality production.
