About university

The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (SUA) operates since 1952. Right from the beginning the university was destined to be a centre of agricultural education, research and development in Slovakia in the priority area of human activity – sufficient production of safe and wholesome food in harmony with environmental protection, the conservation of biological diversity and sustainable development.

Accreditation

Its scientific and educational performance, along with its historical tradition, makes it a recognized institution both domestically and internationally. As part of a successful comprehensive accreditation in 2009, the Slovak University of Agriculture (SPU) in Nitra was classified as a university-type higher education institution, and the results of the most recent accreditation confirmed this status. In 2010, it became the first university in Slovakia to receive the prestigious ECTS Label, awarded by the European Commission for ensuring and implementing the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and student mobility.

An integral part of its identity is the title “Green University.” Across its six faculties, it offers a wide range of opportunities to gain knowledge not only in agricultural sciences but also in biological, economic, and technical disciplines. This creates a strong foundation for the broad employability of its graduates in various sectors of the economy.

Faculties

The university currently consists of six faculties:

  • Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources,
  • Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences,
  • Faculty of Economics and Management,
  • Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development,
  • Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering and
  • Faculty of Engineering.
